Changes-Ineed2change

We have been going through massive changes in my family.  Our daily schedule is gone, and eventually a new one will become the norm.  I still have my work schedule, but my Hubs is only home three days and nights a week. The other four are still being worked out.  My children have been great in helping and being awesome in just about everything (they are still kids).

We are no longer able to attend a church together on Sundays, and that has been a huge thing for me. So I follow the LORD believing that HE knows what HE is doing.  We have been attending a different church on Saturday nights, as our church does not have a Saturday service.  Its important to me that my family goes to church together.

The new church and the things I have been studying have been complimenting each other, and I wonder if that is God’s plan? I am thinking so.  The topic is “Ineed2change” . Interesting, the Pastor said this weekend, there is so much emphasis on the new believer to change, that the new believer is more focused on the change than in learning to walk with the Spirit. I would have to agree, and even go as far as a lot of believers who have been doing this for many years, have shifted the focus.

In my studies, I am studying the Holy Spirit.  Seems to me, we know much about Jesus, and some about God, and next to nothing about the Spirit.  Holy Trinity, all one, yet all seperate, each with a job or function.  We are to walk by the Spirit, be led by the Spirit, and ultimately changed by HIM.  HE is closer than a brother, living with in.

I think its not only time to get to know HIM that lives with in, but to allow HIM to make some changes.  Ineed2change..how about you?

  2. Thanks for the invitation to learn more about the Holy Spirit, Darla… Will check it out!

  3. Bajan- more to come on the Holy Spirit as I gather my notes.

  4. We just concluded a series at our pace called Time2Change. Great series. Our focus from the get go was that we tend to think we can empower change in our lives, but when it comes down to it, we cannot change. At least not in any significant supernatural way. God changes us.

Good post today! We should all be more aware of the Spirit’s leading and working in our lives!

  5. Russ, thanks for the kind words..I am loving what you are doing on your blog, and your music is gift from GOD! believe it! thanks for sharing your gifts and talents.

  6. Oohh.. Good stuff, Darla. Yes, I am learning to walk by the Spirit right now also. My pastors say the same thing about not enough being taught on the work and function of the Holy Spirit. Love you!

Darla: yes! I need to change…a lot!

    Yesterday in church we sang that old hymn, “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” Since then I have had one line from that song going through my head;

“Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the one I love.”

THAT is what I need changed in me. I don’t want to wander from Him!

  8. Reading the post and the comments, I think I see a key ingredient. Desire. We need to desire the change, ask Him for it and let Him do it. I always seem to end up back at who my focus is on. Good thought provoking comments leading us to Him.

  9. Annie, I am studying now and compiling a womens study on this topic. I know for myself this is where i am falling..I need to become more familiar with the ONE who is with me day and night, and who has the power to change me…into more of an image of Jesus.

Joe! good to see you my friend! I have been missing time to sit with your blog, but you are on the top of my list!! I love that old song..and I do feel that line “prone to wander, LORD I feel it, prone to leave the ONE i love.” ineed2change, i want no more wandering..let’s do this thing!

Gracie- it certainly is desire, and also prompted by the Holy Spirit. What an awesome gift we have been given! I just need to get to know HIM more, and I am sure I am not the only one. love you, thanks for always sharing your wisdom with me.

  10. A few years back, I decided to study the Holy Spirit. I realized that in the denomination that I grew up in, the Holy Spirit was minimized and then I landed at a church that the Holy Spirit was constantly talked about. I decided to figure out for myself just who the Holy Spirit was. It was probably the most beneficial studies that I ever did. I have realized that it is the Holy Spirit dwelling in us that gives us the power to make those changes that we need to make in our lives. He gives us power, and courage, and all those things that we can’t conjure up on our own. Understanding the role of the Holy Spirit in my life has been awesome for me! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this subject.

  11. I once heard someone say, “I have been going to church all my life, I have heard it all – nothing is new!” I Was dumb founded ! I Was only 42 and still had a long way to go and lots to learn! By the way, the other person was 15! 😯

I am 65 – God is still speaking through the Holy Spirit in my life! A lot of my growth has been in the past couple of years! I am excited and still eager to learn!

  12. Psalm 55:19 Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God (KJV)

God will…humble them…because they do not change and do not fear God (ESV)

Change is a necessary part of growth.

  13. Hey Darla, yes its coming through and very much on time! Thank you for being the blessing you are! and thanks for praying for the events!

  14. Indian Lake Papa’s comment made me laugh… 15!?!? As they say, ask a teenager while they still know everything. 🙂

Massive changes indeed! Whew. Hang tight girl. I liked hearing that you are hanging out in the word. That’ll make all the difference.

I love that you still call your kids kids.

  15. A lot of good stuff to hear the last few weeks. It’s good to get a different perspective. And right on time no less.

    Love you

  16. That 15 year old sure knew his Bible huh?

‘The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.’

Pity he did not know himself as well as he ‘knew’ Scripture. 🙂

Ecclesiastes 1 needs further study by those who seek Wisdom…

’10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after. ‘

i reccommend reading the whole chapter also.

    And i commend your efforts D 🙂

If we contemplate the Spirit we can all gain from it.

    <B

  17. I Was dumb founded when the 15 year old said that! The last I knew, years ago, she walked out on her Jesus. That breaks my heart, I have so much tyo learn and He wants us to learn. Change is inevitable, but way am I going to choose?

  18. Darls – I would love to hear your studies. Really, I would.

(I’ve been thinking too about how sincere you were about learning Hebrew via my blog. I’ve been pondering how or if I might go about that. But I don’t know where to start. The letters? And how would I know people are learning and absorbing? Should I just launch in in the middle, or really teach from the beginning and make sure people are really getting it (that want to). Hmmm. So I’ve been thinking about it.)
