OCC-Holy Spirit-His Personal Actions I

(At Our Creative Community, we are all pressing hard into the calling the LORD has put on our heart to pursue. They hold me accountable, and they are precious children of GOD, doing awesome things in HIS strength..please check them out, and if you feel led, join in…)

The Holy Spirit..a gift to you…straight from God the Father, made possible through Jesus Christ. An AMAZING gift!

I Corinthians 2:12

We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

When I receive a gift, I explore it! I want to know everything about it, and how it applies to me. SO while studying, the application to self is huge. And not only for me, but for every believer.

I Corinthians 2:10-11

but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit searches and knows the deep things of God! HE knows HIS thoughts! try wrapping your mind around that for a while. HE lives in you…

Romans 8:26-27

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

God knows the mind of the Spirit as well as the Spirit knowing HIS..and the Spirit prays/intercedes for us! This is something to do the a happy dance about!  SO many times in weakness, and in walking through the fire, we just don’t know how to pray, and we lay it at HIS feet, and the Spirit of God already knows the plan and is interceding for all that is necessary to complete the plan, and bring us to the exact place that God has already planned for us.

This is just another taste of what I have been working on as I press on to fulfill my calling, learning more about the gift that GOD has given us to insure we are overcomers.  Ultimatly, its your choice to follow the Spirit or grieve HIM.  But the Gift remains..

What do you do with a new gift? How do you respond to its application for you personally?  (I am not looking for a Christianese answer, I am looking for your answer to how you recieve a gift, holidays or otherwise)

OCC- study update- Holy Spirit

3237032340_f58bcf6ef1.jpg

I am supposed to put this on my side bar, but I am seriously techy challenged! so when I post I will add it to the top of my post. K?

Being part of this group is a great encouragement and accountability. My commitment is to study the Word 1 hour a day X 5 days a week. Along with that keeping notes, and preparing to write a study on the Holy Spirit.  So this is a learning time for me as well. Its not too late to become part of this group, so please go read, check out the other blogs listed, and stand in awe…God is on the move, and we are learning to use the gifts that HE has given to us.

In the study time this last three weeks, being overwhelmed is an understatement!  Not only is time an issue, but the things the LORD is showing me are huge. Maybe not to everyone, but to me. And that causes me to be able to know and believe HIM so much more. That is an answer to my prayer.

Just an example of what I am looking at…

The Holy Spirit is mentioned in the Gensis 1:2, showing me that HE was there at the time of creation. As the Bible moves, the Spirit of God was always a gift to man, when God’s plan needed another step fulfilled.  These people are aware that God has put HIS Spirit on them. They know that their accomplishments are not their own. Upon grieving the Spirit, HE is removed.  They beg for HIM to stay. The Spirit is the presence of God(Psalm 51:11/Isaiah 63:10). But in the Old Testament, the Spirit does not live in them, and the redeemer of our sin hasn’t walked that walk to the cross, HE can not stay with man.

Definitely fits all that Jesus said HE would( John 14:26).  One difference, a believer today has HIM within our self(Romans 8:9). Jesus paid the price for the sin we did and will do, in order for the Father to look at us through the blood of Jesus.  HE is not leaving the believer.  We are sealed with HIM.

The Spirit of GOd was a gift from the Father in the Old Testament and is still a gift. The saddest thing that I am finding is; Then they had no way of not grieving the Spirit, and today we do. Unfortunately it doesn’t mean much to most people.  The Gift is not celebrated, and if we don’t sense HIM for days, we are sure HE will comeback..and yes, with repentance we will again hear HIM…but so much we are missing in this life by not knowing HIM, not knowing what an awesome Gift HE is!

The Holy Fragrance of Christmas

Born in a lowly manger, a brilliant star heralded the announcement that the King of Kings, the Promised Messiah had come!   Wise Men followed that star, and brought their gifts to worship Him.  Their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh are here for us today as symbols, gifts that are developed in our life, to place before the King, as our holy (fragrant) offering.

Gold – Represents the divine nature.  As gold is the highest, most precious metal, so the divine nature is the highest nature, the only nature having immortality.

It also represents our faith; being more precious than gold.  According to the Scriptures, 1Peter 1:6-7  “In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ”.

What makes your faith more precious than gold?  Does it come in its purest form at the onset of salvation? Or is it tried and formed and developed over the years, by various trials and tribulations?

In my book, “The Waiting Room” I share the extraordinary events of our family’s journey,.  It is due to the synergy of prayer mixed with the power of God’s love through our trials, that our faith has grown and developed as pure gold.

“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing..”  James 1:3-4

If I were to present my gift of gold before my King this Christmas, what would I be offering?

I started my journey of following the Bright Morning Star, Jesus, over thirty years ago, and through the years the hills and valleys have taught me well.  My faith has been tested, has been tried, and has kept me solid on the Rock of Jesus Christ.  Not because of anything I did, but because of Who Jesus is.  My faith is not my own, it’s His gift to me.  All I’ve done is nurture and develop my faith; by using every gift He’s given me.  The Holy Gifts such as: encouragement, prayer, love, friendship, reconciliation, and more.  And so this Christmas, I bring before my King, the precious gift of gold like faith…my fragrant offering.

Frankincense – An emblem of prayer, a fragrant aroma to God.  A website reference for study: The Revelation of Jesus Christ states: “Prayer is the closest we can come to the presence of God, and it can be reached only through Jesus.   As the sweet incense [Jesus’ obedience] ascends into the Most Holy, the presence of God, so through Jesus, the devotional life of the church, their praises and prayers, ascend as sweet fragrance to God.”

Are you using the gift of frankincense and permeating the atmosphere of your heart through prayer?

The heart is God’s dwelling place, have I prepared mine to be a fragrant aroma to Him?  My heart yearns to present this gift before my Heavenly Father as a gift of thanks and worship, for all He has done and given to me.

Myrrh –  Used for the anointing ointment for the dead, it has come to be known as a symbol of suffering  and sorrow.

It is a gum which oozes from the branch, extracted from a tree.  It is bitter in flavor, but has medicinal uses and is also fragrant when combined with other spices.  Added to frankincense, (prayer symbol) it is a beautiful fragrance, used for anointing.

Prayer turns all bitter things sweet.

See, the bitterness of the myrrh (sorrows of life) can be difficult to swallow; this is why we need Jesus, (the Tree) to turn the bitter waters sweet.  (Story of Marah* see below)

When I add Jesus to the bitter drink of my cup, I am able to drink freely, with peace and I feel His love.  I am free to respond to life with the sweet gifts of the Spirit, a choice I’ve repeatedly made.  “For where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”  Corinthians 3:17.

Let the oil extracted from the tree,  become the myrrh of sweet anointing: your gift of liberty!

How?  When you think about a holy gift to present to the King of Kings, consider your gifts:  Your faith (Gold), your prayers (Frankincense) and  your sufferings (Myrrh) your fragrant offering!

Shalom, and Holy Christmas!

Beauty in the “giving”

God has given me a heart for outreach. As I study through the gospels, I see HIM stopping to help people who have not always made a confession of faith, but believe after HIS compassion has touched them.  I get hung up on corporate church sometimes because they seem to focus on whether or not someone has made that confession before helping them.  Not me!  I want them to see something different in me that goes against the world’s thinking, and pray that they will see Jesus in me.

Last night I met a family, for the first time, that God placed right in my hand. Amazing!  I talked to the mother briefly on the phone, and she was so open to me, and wanted whatever help I could and would give her.  Praise365 and I shopped for them for thanksgiving dinner and some extras to help stock her for a couple days…she lives in a motel efficiency, a small walk in kitchen, a tv and a bed(full size double, no king or queen), two children…one ten, one thirteen. They all live there. She works.  The tears just rolled down her cheeks when we gave her the stuff, and when I gave her my number to call me if she needs anything. She has no car, and is dependant on the public bus.

God totally opened this door, and I felt like she were my sister, and I just hugged this stranger, and prayed for her.  I have a list of things that her children would like for Christmas, and honestly its a modest list.  I am going to reach her soon again, and walk this life with her…at least til God helps her stand in HIM, and gives her wings to fly.  The blessing in giving is the most precious sense of God I have ever felt, and I encourage you to find a family to help.  If you need help getting started let me know, I will help you find them.

Thank you Lord for placing 19 families this year into hands of families who love you. Please let them see YOU in us. Please hush a mothers heart that just don’t know which way to turn, and help her to look up to you, please lift her head.  Comfort her children that they are not forgotten. I know you have a plan.  Remembering this thanksgiving how much YOU have given us, and so much we are yet to find out.  I applaud you in reminding me that YOU are still on the move, and still stooping down picking up the lost, still hearing hungry children crying, and still feeding them. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Oh LORD there is none like you, loving you with a heart that you gave to me, thank you for lifting me up and lifting my head, and allowing me to help someone else, but most of all to go along with YOU, and watch my Daddy work.  Priceless.. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Don’t forget tomorrow is my Guest writer…I have already read it, and it brought me to my knees, thanking God for all that HE has done in my heart and in my life….will be up in the morning…stop by and leave some love…and some holiday cheer!

Holidays are NOT for stress

In my past, I lived in a Shelter for Abuse Women(do you know this place is over crowded over the holidays?), not once but twice, both times over the holidays.  Just the name of “holidays” made me cringe and just drag my feet.  I have wonderful husband, who has worked very hard to change that in me.  Success! the last few years I have actually looked forward to it.  Learning to walk with the LORD has been my healing in this area.

As I look around, I see men carrying a stress that is not the normal stress of day to day or regular bills, its stress knowing the holidays are coming…Ladies, they really want to give all that is on the requests list, but we really need to give them a break…When HE asks what you want for Christmas…eliminate the disappointment and hard feelings, and just tell him. THen allow him to tell you if he can make that happen or not.  Most women I know will say they want nothing..and then are angry because he didn’t see through that to mean something.  Ahhh hit a nerve huh?

Let’s set out this year looking to keep Jesus first in our thoughts and shopping. Lets give the man a break, and remember that he is not here to satisfy our every whim, and while shopping for our kids, keep it within the budget…remind them over and over that this holiday season is about giving and not getting.  Only the LORD can fill our empty voids, not our husbands, and not expensive gifts.

Entering this Thanksgiving Holiday with thanks for all that I have, (a post just on that later)and praying to be a wife that not only pleases my man, but pleases God.

ATTENTION MEN:  YOU ARE OFF THE HOOK, WE HAVE DECIDED TO LET GOD BE GOD, AND YOU CAN JUST BE OUR MEN!

Would it not be the coolest thing to hear this holiday…

“Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.”  Proverbs 31:28   (this is what I am working on for Christmas, what I really want)
