Holidays are NOT for stress

In my past, I lived in a Shelter for Abuse Women(do you know this place is over crowded over the holidays?), not once but twice, both times over the holidays.  Just the name of “holidays” made me cringe and just drag my feet.  I have wonderful husband, who has worked very hard to change that in me.  Success! the last few years I have actually looked forward to it.  Learning to walk with the LORD has been my healing in this area.

As I look around, I see men carrying a stress that is not the normal stress of day to day or regular bills, its stress knowing the holidays are coming…Ladies, they really want to give all that is on the requests list, but we really need to give them a break…When HE asks what you want for Christmas…eliminate the disappointment and hard feelings, and just tell him. THen allow him to tell you if he can make that happen or not.  Most women I know will say they want nothing..and then are angry because he didn’t see through that to mean something.  Ahhh hit a nerve huh?

Let’s set out this year looking to keep Jesus first in our thoughts and shopping. Lets give the man a break, and remember that he is not here to satisfy our every whim, and while shopping for our kids, keep it within the budget…remind them over and over that this holiday season is about giving and not getting.  Only the LORD can fill our empty voids, not our husbands, and not expensive gifts.

Entering this Thanksgiving Holiday with thanks for all that I have, (a post just on that later)and praying to be a wife that not only pleases my man, but pleases God.

ATTENTION MEN:  YOU ARE OFF THE HOOK, WE HAVE DECIDED TO LET GOD BE GOD, AND YOU CAN JUST BE OUR MEN!

Would it not be the coolest thing to hear this holiday…

“Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her.”  Proverbs 31:28   (this is what I am working on for Christmas, what I really want)

Who is taking care of the children?

I don’t have much, but I have found if I give my little to the Lord, HE will make it much. Reminds me of the story of the feeding of the five thousand. The little boy only had two fish and three loaves of bread, but it fed everyone and enough left over to feed the disciples as well.  I have always thought that was amazing.

The Lord has burdened my heart for the country of Bolivia.  I was very ignorant to the needs there, and as I looked into it, my heart broke.  As in many third world countries, children as disposable. Can you imagine? Leaving them on a doorstep, or at ten years old putting them in the street to work.  I really had my eyes opened to these “street children”, and how God is moving through the streets in Cochabamba, Bolivia.   DaRonn and Angie Washington have a ministry that they not only do the administrative work, but are also living and working the ministry, in an Orphanage.  Rehanna is a friend of thiers and is also working in Bolivia, and reaching out to the street kids.  There stories are a beautiful picture of God’s grace in action.

Please consider joining me in giving (even just a little), visit the ministry website here.  Jesus said to let the children come to HIM.  Be a blessing this holiday season, remembering that we do not go to bed hungry, we know that we are blessed…but blessed to be a blessing.  Peace

Holidays are fast approaching!

Already before Thanksgiving even gets here, Christmas things are filling the aisles of stores that I frequent.  This causes me to think about..who, and what will I buy.  *sigh* I hate the commercialism…I hate the pressure…but overall I love the Holiday.  While visiting my brother Ric on his blog…I saw this video, and thought how cool would it be to actually do something worthwhile, and buy a gift for someone who truly needed it.  Not just clothing or food, but something that actually means thier existence. ( i know food could be one of those things too, but lots are doing that)…

watch this…(yea I took it right off Rics blog..love ya man!) and couldn’t we start right here in blogland to show Christ this holiday with a gift that saves lives. Copy and paste the URL and send it to everyone on your email list…we could make a difference
