Blogged Bible Study-Galatians 4-Grasp the Grace

Galatians 4:1-7 (NIV)

What I am saying is that is as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from the slave, although he owns the whole estate.  He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. But when the time had fully come, GOD sent his Son, born of a woman, under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive the full rights of sons, God sent the Spirit of HIS son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father”. So you are no longer a slave, but a son, God has made you an heir.

This is the beauty of Grace.  Once asking a Pastor what exactly is Grace, we sing about it, we throw it around like a 5 dollar word in Christian circles, and at that time I had no concept of what it actually was.  I was answered with “God’s riches at Christs expense”. Sums it up..still left me empty to the meaning, or application for me.  These verses opened it up for me.  Grace we are swimming in it!! Not only is HIS Grace sufficient for me, and you, there is nothing that will remove you from it as a believer in Christ.  As a son we are inheritors to the Kingdom, we are IN, and all because of the gift of Christ to die for us.

The mind of Christ. Always asked this one too..How can one have the mind of Christ? No one could actually answer that for me, or even admit that we do. But it says..the Spirit of Christ has moved into residency in our hearts! (Swimming in it! grasp this)  His Spirit intercedes for us, HE cries out “Abba , Father”  (Daddy , Father) Where we fall is here.  NO matter what you struggle with, NO matter what I struggle with..right here.  At times we are thinking as the slave, under the Law, forgetting the marvelous gift of Grace that was given to us. Please don’t tell me that you do not ever do this. If we truly grasped this, nothing could stop us in ministry, in our families, in our devotional time, in spreading the fragrance of Knowing HIM, our boldness for the kingdom with just scream from us!! It is not a light thing that HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR US! It means whatever is brought your way, God has already seen HIS Glory fulfilled in it, and you will also see HIS Glory if you don’t turn from HIM.  SWIMMING IN IT! THIS IS SOMETHING TO w00t!!! Holla!!! all about!!!

(in the middle column you will find a list of names and days that they will posting as we study together through Galatians. Under the header of “Carls Blogging Bible Study, check them out, and leave some comment luv)

Galations 3-Blogged Bible Study-Are you Bewitched?

This an ongoing study of Galations, and I will be different from the rest, because God made me this way, and I am okay with that. *wink*..please read the other posts on my sidebar under the Blogging Bible Study..I have decided to not post the verses, I will encourage you to look them up, in your Bible, and spend time with the Scripture so that it can speak to you.

I have pondered this first verse of Galatians 3 many times, and always come to the same conclusion. “You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you?”   Who has bewitched us? Don’t think so?  Look around you..we will argue a play on words, debate different translations, disown people because they do not understand, or maybe they aren’t as educated..who has cast a spell on us? Enchanted us?  If you think for a minute that our modern day culture of Christian is not bewitched, then I beg to differ with you.

Paul is spiritually shaking the Galatians up, reminding them that by faith they are saved, that the blood of Jesus was enough!  That they live by faith, the same faith that saved them, and baptized them with the Holy Spirit.  He reminded them that they are spiritual seed of Abraham, and live under the same promise.  Here is another place that we are bewitched.  Still I hear arguements that we are not allowed to stand on these promises.  Oh yes we are!  Read Gensis 17 and see what is the promise, what is the covenant that was cut by God with Abraham.  No one cuts a deal with GOD, HE will be the only one cutting a covenant. Amen?

Have you ever felt like you didn’t quite fit in? trying to prove yourself?  I have been here, I spent many years just trying to fit into the body of Christ.  Only to have my GOD sit me down and tell me straight up..”you are part of the body of Christ, you are already in, you have nothing to prove here, stand on my promises, I don’t lie”…

In the last few years, the biggest lesson I have learned is to run everything through scripture, and everything into the throne room, then wait for HIM to instruct me.  Commentaries are great! love them! multiple translations are fun! GOD knows how my brain works, HE created it, so its best for me to rely first and foremost on HIM.  Then no one can bewitch me..or you.

We live by faith and not by sight…

Faith/Believing God credits us righteousness..

Jesus finished the job at the cross, HE didn’t leave anything undone…

GOD has made us promises that are ours, but HE requires us to believe HIM…

Who has bewitched you? We have forgotten how to be one in Christ..HE prayed for our unity, and still we have none, I still believe that the Son of GOD gets everything HE asks for, and that Paul mentioning this also means we should have it!

Blogged Bible Study – Galatians 2

Reading this chapter, fresh was the way to do it this time for me.  I have read it many times and heard different leaders speak on it, and still something bothered me about it.  The LORD is good to shine new lights, and HE knows how my brain works!  In the past I have watched people take this book and bash Peter, and do it by saying they are following Pauls example. (Remember, Paul heard, then he saw, then he confronted – this is not how I see many confrontations taking place.) The problem I have with that is God also had Peter write two books of the Bible and I can’t excuse them as its a whole book from cover to cover.  SO my question to my self before GOD was, “what am I supposed to make of this?” and “doesn’t there have to be more to this than just confrontation?”  Here is what I came up with…

It does not matter how much you love Jesus, or how very much you are setting out to serve HIM, there will always be something there that will cause you to think “well maybe this will apply as well”.  I see Peter that way, and he fell to Legalism, as do many many well meaning Christ Followers.  Then I look at Paul, and it was right for him to call Peter on it.  This particular chapter is not just about “False Teachers” as whole.  This chapter is following up the verse in chapter one that I started this study with.

Gal. 1:4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of God our Father…

Gal. 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I know longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of GOD, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Do you see the theme? Jesus death on the cross was enough! Its finished, HIS words not mine.

This chapter is about knowing your freedom in Christ, and what the blood of Jesus has done for each of us, and allow no man to alter that in the slightest way, the result in this instance was bondage to Legalism. (Which in my opinion, is the strongest bondage in the Body of Christ today! point fingers at someone else, judge unjustly, tell someone how to dress for church, anything that adds to the Gospel message for human gain..Legalistic!)

Once you are bound by something, it seems to be easier to fall to anything.

What do you believe? Does your belief system work for you?  In this chapter I see two loved very much by Christ, both serving HIM, and a confrontation needed to help one out of the bondage that has started to consume him.  Can you relate to thinking you are on the right track, only to find later deception was trying to tie you down?  It happens, pray that it does not happen to you?  I am praying for the same thing for myself.  Let’s not bash Peter, and let’s not put Paul on a pedestal.  But look at the application, we will soon enough be on both sides of it in some point in our life.

Galatians Chapter 1-Blogged Bible Study

For those who have read through the studies before..this is a refresher of how we do this… several of us are blogging one chapter a week..starting with Galations. You can find the rest of the line up HERE.

When preparing to study any book of the Bible, I find it useful to read the whole book and then go back and start to break down sections. God gave us the Bible to help us and not just tell us stories or give us history(although there is a ton of history to be uncovered in it).  I am an application person, so I will be looking at each chapter for the application that applies to me today.

Galations 1:4  who gave himself (Jesus Christ) for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God, and Father,… (NIV)

(This is the main application to the entire book..as I proceed I will reference back to it.)  “rescue us from the present evil age”  this stood out to me..it could have read This evil age, but it says present..Don’t we live in an evil age? we do.  The blood of Jesus is still as powerful today as it was the day it was spilled.  The Galations are not the only ones who become duped, who seem to lose their minds, they are surrounded by evil, and so are we.

It seems to me that when reading Galations 1:6-10, the snare of false teaching is there because of their desire to please these people who are teaching something that is not of GOD….I know this sounds slightly off base, maybe lots to you. But please think about this.. We often try to be peace makers, which is a good thing. But we usually end up being people pleasers more oft than not. I have met so many women who openly will admit that people pleasing is a hard strong hold to break.  Verse 10 sums up the issue of people pleasing..we must be seeking the approval of GOD and not people!  In verse 7 it says that they were confused..confusion always happens when I try to please people and not GOD..We really need to stay focused, that we are rescued from the PRESENT evil, we seek the approval of God.  The Gospel story never gets old to me..it means everything to me.  Yet still I have had times of being duped, being confused…and people pleasing.

I don’t know if you have a walk with the LORD, if you know HIM or not.  I pray that you do! And if you do, and you know that you have been misled, and have fallen to the traps of this present evil age, that you will seek the approval of GOD.  And HE does want you to turn from sin, and return to HIM. HE hasn’t forgotten you..HE hasn’t forgotten me..WE can’t forget HIM.

Isaiah 49: 15, 16  “Can  a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!  See I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.   -GOD

Maybe we need to write Jesus on our hand..tatoo it where we see it 24/7..but lets not forget, lets not be led away into confusion…write love on your hand.. LOVE wrote your name on HIS hand.

OCC-Holy Spirit-His Personal Actions I

(At Our Creative Community, we are all pressing hard into the calling the LORD has put on our heart to pursue. They hold me accountable, and they are precious children of GOD, doing awesome things in HIS strength..please check them out, and if you feel led, join in…)

The Holy Spirit..a gift to you…straight from God the Father, made possible through Jesus Christ. An AMAZING gift!

I Corinthians 2:12

We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

When I receive a gift, I explore it! I want to know everything about it, and how it applies to me. SO while studying, the application to self is huge. And not only for me, but for every believer.

I Corinthians 2:10-11

but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit searches and knows the deep things of God! HE knows HIS thoughts! try wrapping your mind around that for a while. HE lives in you…

Romans 8:26-27

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

God knows the mind of the Spirit as well as the Spirit knowing HIS..and the Spirit prays/intercedes for us! This is something to do the a happy dance about!  SO many times in weakness, and in walking through the fire, we just don’t know how to pray, and we lay it at HIS feet, and the Spirit of God already knows the plan and is interceding for all that is necessary to complete the plan, and bring us to the exact place that God has already planned for us.

This is just another taste of what I have been working on as I press on to fulfill my calling, learning more about the gift that GOD has given us to insure we are overcomers.  Ultimatly, its your choice to follow the Spirit or grieve HIM.  But the Gift remains..

What do you do with a new gift? How do you respond to its application for you personally?  (I am not looking for a Christianese answer, I am looking for your answer to how you recieve a gift, holidays or otherwise)
