Can’t Preach That -revisted..worth it!

Yes we been here before, and it is worth a re-visit!! my son was entertaining me earlier in the week singing this in the pool, with all his Hammer moves.. Now I know you all remember “Hammertime” and “can’t touch this” .  This is to the tune..”Can’t touch this”, and titled  ….

“Can’t Preach that”

(got this here from here)

Download/listen here

You can’t preach that. You can’t preach that. You can’t preach that.

Bad, bad, bad, bad preaching irks me
So hard, Makes me say, oh my word,
What are, you teaching me?
What am I to try to think, heresy?
It’s no good, and it makes me frown,
A really bad exegete breaking it down,
So put it, out of reach
Cuz this kinda stuff, uh, you can’t preach

I told you Joel Osteen
You can’t preach that

Yeah, that’s what you preaching and you know…
You can’t preach that

Get a commentary or something…man…
You can’t preach that.

Yo, let me bust some exegesis
You can’t preach that.

“Send your money, and see
Your bank account grow, you can dress like me.
So move, off of your seat
And get a credit card and catch this beat,
You’ll be rolling, hold on,
The blessings come a flowing
You won’t know what’s going on,
like that, like that
Your bank account growing till it’s really really fat,”
Now that’s dirty, like sand at the beach
And that kinda stuff, uh, you can’t preach.

Yo, I told you Creflo Dollar,
You can’t preach that.

Why you keep preaching that man,
You can’t preach that.

Yo, read you Bible, it ain’t in there man,
You can’t preach that.

You want a choice or freedom
Make your decisions, you know you need um.
Now, you know,
If it was up to you you’d always say “no”
You think, you’re right
You call us heretics all day and night

So stop your crazy speech,
Cuz that of stuff, uh, you can’t preach

That’s word Dave Hunt, cuz you know,
You can’t preach that

Man, where are you getting all that stuff from?
You can’t preach that

Man, why you got to call us heretics?
You can’t preach that

Why don’t you just go write your Berean Call,
Break it down.

Stop…Schuller time

“Go with the times,” it is said,
If you preach like this then your preaching is dead,
So wave your hands in the air
Do what you want, people just don’t care.
Just tell them, some tale
About a puppy dog that lost his tail,
Now ready, set, and jump
Just for a minute let’s sell lots of junk.

Junk, junk, junk

Yeah,
You can’t preach that

Look man,
You can’t preach that

You better get right man cus you know you can’t
You can’t preach that

Read your Bible
School’s back in.

Break it down.

Stop…Phelps time…

(long interlude)

You can’t preach that
You can’t preach that
You can’t preach that
Break it down

Stop…listen up

Paul and new perspective, health wealth, prosperity,
Emerging church, gay marriage, and liberality.

Now why would I ever care for this junk,
I listened to these preachers and each one stunk.

They’re all around the world
From London to L.A.

It’s send me this,
send me that,
send me what you got,
And you’re blessing’ll come today.

You can’t preach that.
You can’t preach that.

Break it down

??Christianity??

I read this on a brothers blog, and found it to disturb something deep with in me.  Because I was once under the same thought of what the word “Christianity” actually meant.  A person who does not know Jesus, would honestly think that we are not loving, we are not extending grace, and we are some elite little club.  Could not be further from the truth!  “Christianity” means that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, it means that everything in my life is to line up with HIS teachings, and What the Bible has to say about my day to day life, which includes how I treat others.  I have also experienced hurt from the “Christian” church, not everytime i have encountered it but it has happened.  DO NOT take that to mean following Christ is learning to be down grading or demeaning to others, its is actually the opposite. Thank you Brother Johnny for this writing.  Even if you read this and don’t agree, take a minute to pray for those that have been touched by a mock christianity, a self serving , and powerful thinking. Pray they will find the TRUTH of following Jesus.

Christianity

Where did you come from, why are you here?

Why does your name cause pain in my…ear?

Who is your leader, what is your cause?

Who wrote your ordinances, who thought up your laws?

How can I escape you, where can I hide?

Could even Jesus protect me from your dominion so wide?

How great is this monster, how complex this machine!!

How mighty and awesome is this frightening thing!!

You twist and you turn and put on a new face,

You push your agenda and sell your cheap grace.

Like a vortex of death leading straight to insanity,

Where did you come from, oh where, Christianity?

(poem written by BrotherJohnny, and gave me permission to keep this. THANKS! Brother)

Philippians 1:12,13

Sorry , this should have been posted yesterday, and I have no excuse..life is just coming at me fast..and I decided to play and take a break.  Check out this study going on at Philter48 , click on the button “Philippians Study”. (easy huh?)

12 I want you to know, brothers,  that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, 13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard  and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ.(ESV)

These verses are intense.  I love Paul’s Kingdom-minded perspective. All for the Kingdom.  In every case of what the world would say is trial and persecution in Paul’s life, was the finger of God moving HIS plan into action, to spread the gospel to all nations.  Totally blows my mind.  Paul could have whined and complained about all that was happening to him, but his Believing God was always in tact! He knew that God was good, and if HE allowed such things, then GREAT things of a larger magnitude was at stake.  Can you think of anything greater than a lost soul coming to Christ?

Paul was imprisoned and his charge was following Christ, and telling others about HIM.  Can you imagine the guards in the prison, knowing this, and still the man keeps going, and going, and going…(talk about energizer!)

I am convinced that without the mind of  Christ, and Knowing the heart of God…this is where the rubber meets the road!  Many claim to know HIM, but in the slightest discomfort, the whining, and complaining is unbelievable! Paul demonstrates a heart fixed on Christ, the author and perfector of his faith, and not the world.

Are we focused on the Kingdom? Are we all about ourself? or all about God?  seems to me there is no middle of the road.

Philippians 1:9-11

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.(ESV)

(Study notes from the ESV)Phil. 1:9–11 The first petition in Paul’s prayer is that God would cause the cardinal Christian virtue of love to abound more and more, and that it would be accompanied by knowledge and all discernment, so that the Philippians’ love would find expression in wise actions that would truly benefit others and glorify God. As Christians grow in their understanding of what it means to follow Jesus, they will increasingly be able to affirm and practice what is excellent. Such joyful obedience to God will give them the confidence of being found pure and blameless when Jesus returns. This does not imply instantaneous spiritual perfection but rather an increasing likeness to Christ. But fruit of righteousness is not produced in the believer’s own power. Because that fruit comes through Jesus Christ, it will result in the glory and praise of God.

As I studied through this section, and read comments and discussion at Philter48, I was reminded of how often we stop at the “pure and blameless” section and count ourselves OUT!  Through the worlds eyes, we are not pure and blameless..endless grudges have been held against us, and some with good worldly reason. Praise God that HE is not like the world!  The difference between willful or presumptuous sin and transgressions are life changing to one who may be carrying reproach of sins past.  Pure and blameless is being free from willful, repetitive sin. You know the kind..the one we look at and know in our heart of hearts that it would be wrong for us to do it, and we run right in delighting in the forbidden. Not only once, but since we repented, we feel okay about doing it again and again, with all intention of one day laying this thing down.  (Let me just give this warning..God is not a fool, and forgive you HE will, right after that whoopin’ you are asking for..HE will make sure you do not forget what defiance in the face of our Almighty King will bring  you.) We will battle with sin, that everyday sin, someone made you angry, and your tongue got away (not repetitively), when we cry out to the LORD to help us forgive, we repent that we know we are unforgiving, unloving…the things that we go through while learning and growing in HIM.  Those are sin as well, but God has seperated sin and willful sin…We learn obedience, and although something is sinful and totally appeals to us we decline, no willful sin.  There is freedom in this for me.

Psalm 19:13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.

Pauls prayer is beautiful, and one we all need to apply to ourselves as well as others.. Love, knowledge, discernment, pure and blameless, what is excellent, fruit of righteousness..through Jesus Christ all to HIS Glory!
