Abundant Grace- Day 2 Sacrifice

Ahhhhh! did this one hit a few nerves for you? It certainly hit a few with me.

(Genesis 22:1-18 )  When I read this, the questions started to roll around.  I know God has called me out many times to lay my “Isaac” down on HIS altar, and surrender that person/things to HIM. At times it felt like HE was ripping my heart out, and thru the tears, I realized there was no other choice.  Abraham knew and believed that he would walk away from that mountain with his son…even if it meant God would raise him from the dead! I have often wondered why this “test”? what was it Abram was to learn, it seemed like he already had it all figured out?  And surely, God being all knowing, already knew that Abram would choose obedience..so why?

Job 1:6-12 show a different testing..but is definitely called out as testing.  Without going to far off track, the reason for the testing was due to the unseen heavenlies, the enemy/accuser/Satan..

I just want to add that we are unaware of the war in the heavenlies, when we have been accused.  I do know that God will not allow the enemy to have his way without God turning it out for the good.  So altho this is just a theory….I have learned from this story, multiple times.

Obedience, trust, surrendering the most dear thing to my heart, learning that HIS sovereignty is something to be acknowledge!

I have always admired Abram for his faith…

What does this reading stir in you? It has certainly stirred my heart and thinking…

Abundant Grace-Abraham (God’s plan begins)

Romans 15:4  “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” why do we read scripture? to learn, to know more about HIM, and so that we will have the hope that HE wants us to have. Honestly, there is no place like HOPE.

(Who does not want hope? raise your hand..and I hope you will be okay with me thinking you are my Special person in this study! 😆 )

“God doesn‟t look at outward appearance, God looks at the heart.  He looks beyond what man looks at (1 Samuel 16:7).”  I had to stop here..and breathe..God Looks At The Heart! Yours, mine, and Abraham’s heart…

Abram (later to be renamed Abraham), 75 years old, and his life was just to begin…

The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household

and go to the land I will show you.  “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I

will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and

whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth

will be blessed through you.” So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him.

Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran. He took his wife Sarai, his

nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in

Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.

~Genesis 12:1-5

God picked Abram to father HIS country, HIS people, and made him promises that were incredible.  Abram’s faith in God was huge. He believed that GOD could do what HE said.

There are times I struggle with this, I know God can do anything, but taking a step in faith can be terrifying.

What are your thoughts on Abram? Can you imagine hearing God speak, and picking up your family and just going, without knowing where you are going? Don’t we usually want our ducks all in a row? thoughts?

Abundant Grace-intro

The word GRACE used to totally baffle my mind.  Not many people can even define the word, much less apply it to daily living.  When I was a child my Sunday School teacher defined Grace as an acronym

G-God’s

R-riches

A-at

C-Christ’s

E-Expense

Altho I could understand that Jesus died for me, the whole riches, and expense escaped me.

Grace is so much more, and once we accept the fact that it is a gift that we will never be able to pay for, or feel worthy of…IT’S AMAZING!  Abundant is the word! As believers we are swimming in it! GOD said.. “My Grace is sufficient for you” .  WOW, sufficient…its enough, you are not left wanting or needing..its enough!  Nothing is too hard for HIM, nothing is too costly, nothing is too good for you as HIS child. HE does reserve the right to decide what is good for you. 🙂

The Blood of Jesus is enough to cover yours and my sins. No limit to the power of it, and its given to us FREE…

What are your thoughts on Grace?

Following Jesus…

“No, I am not talking about twitter. I literally want you to follow me.”

Found on FB, and has made me laugh, and make me think! Wow, how many times do we think we can follow Jesus like we follow someone on twitter? Twitter is for our social convenience .  Jesus never said he would be convenient….Just Follow Me..literally

Studying the “Begats”-Abundant Grace

My dear Sister, Angela, has agreed to give us a study that she compiled for free! so there is no materials to buy, just your time…honestly we are all busy, and twenty minutes tops a day is very do-able.. I thank God for bringing this our way, and for allowing me to host it here on my blog. I will be posting Monday -Friday my findings, and please comment on any days that you can.  Try to comment at least once a week..we learn from each other..share your findings… ABUNDANT GRACE, by Angela Parsley

Ever wonder…why in the world did God find it necessary to list the “begats”? I used to skip those parts in my readings just because it really didn’t matter to me…more or less, lets just get on with it. Over the last few years, the greatest treasures that applied to me were found through the “begats”.

While learning to look a each name and research them in the Bible, a whole new world opened up.  These are actual people, they led actual lives, and mad actual bad choices, and through it all God used them to get where HE intended to be.  Amazing.

So many struggle with their identity in Christ, and what exactly that means.  So many times we fall into the thinking that we have just out sinned GOD’s love, forgiveness, and attention.  We are so wrong in that thinking.  It’s refreshing to look closer at these people.

As we step into this new study, I am hoping that we can see these “begats” as real live people, not superhuman, just people, that God choose to use as the family lineage for HIS son to come through.

If you would like to join in this study, email me  jcb4uorme@yahoo.com and I will email you some home work to keep up to pace with us.  So excited! Let’s take a deeper look and understand that what we have been sliding past is where the treasure lies…

the ONLY unchanging ONE

Just came from my friend Gracie’s blog, and she inspired this in me.  (click the link and see if that post doesn’t move your heart..thats God calling..definintely)

So often we forget what God means when HE tells us to love.  So often we pick and choose what that love should look like in us.  While reading her blog I thought of a song that said “Jesus said to love like him, then HE died for me…can i be like my Jesus” (from My Jesus, by Todd Agnew)

While pondering on this…it all comes down to know HIM, loving HIM, and understanding that there is nothing we can do to earn HIS love, and if we got what we are entitled…to put it bluntly..we would get Hell an eternal seperation from our Holy God.

My love for HIM is rekindled pondering on who HE is.  HE doesn’t need us or anything we can do, HE wants us…the ONLY unchanging ONE
