(if you are looking for the update to the HOPE CRUSADE IN PHILADELPHIA-GO HERE PRAISE365 but then come back!)
I was tagged by Michelle to name my favorite book of the Bible and why? so although this was a hard one for me to nail down, I picked Hosea. There is circumstances in life that lead me to other books to encourage me for different reasons…but I think I end up here most often.
Hosea- this books is a perfect illustration of our human defiance in being faithful to God. Also a perfect illustration of HIS mercy and faithfulness to do what ever needs to be done to turn us back to HIM. HE does not let go. Another thing is the way God led Hosea to marry an unfaithful woman, and to name his children things that would a painful reminder to him and those around him. Wonder why? I have pondered on that several times…but the answer I come to is so Hosea could see through God’s eyes. That is most likely the reason we go through so much suffering, although we complain and stomp our feet..I think the lesson is to ask God to see it through HIS eyes…Just my thoughts. While reading through Hosea, look specifically for God’s heart and actions…it really shines a light on HIM and put there for us.
Now I am tagging
If anyone esle would like to do this leave me a comment and let me know so I can come and read..or just post it here in the comments…I love the fellowship that comes from these types of memes! Spread some love!
just a prayer call to add for you all to lift up!
My sister in Christ Michelle has been up against much opposition, and My sister in Christ Jenny Hope has pulled her neck and has a toddler and alot of commitments, we all need prayer, but for these two I know that they do, and God knows the details..just lift them up! Thanks I knew I could count on you!
Mine is James – Martin Luther called it the “straw epistle” as he thought it talks too much about works. But i loike it – I think we as Christians are expected – and required to be a Christian of good works. We need to get out of the rocking chair!
Thanks papa…are you tagging some more people..hope you do! love or should i say loike (combo of love and like)
OH i LOVE proverbs right now. its my anchor
mandy- that is one of my favs too! it is really hard to pin down just one book, i love the prophets, but then the psalms are sweet, and revelations keeps me focused..yea you see the dilemna :0
😉
“Loike” is the northern term for love and like – I just made that up. You can now officially use it in scrabble! :o)
yay!!! I love new words, and I will try it in scabble…but hubs is big on challenging me..you’ve read enough of my posts to know why!
Hey, Darla! What a great choice!!
Have you ever read Francine Rivers book, Redeeming Love? It’s California Gold Rush era retelling of the book of Hosea. I loved it – had my sons read it too – to see how a man is to love a woman and how God continues to love us, even when we are so unlovely.
Thanks for the prayer request, Darla, and anyone else. We are in desperate need of God’s grace, mercy, compassion, and love. We know He is all these things and at the same time we know He is a consuming fire…please pray He will be glorified in our lives this week. ♥ U !
you’re on the blogroll!
🙂
mandy- 😆 thanks! so are you!!
“Scabble”, is that Pennsylvania Dutch term for “Scrabble” ?
Hey Girl!
I’m praying for our siesta’s….
I too find myself in Hosea.
I got your comment, but I’m away from my outlook and don’t have your e-mail! SOOOOO, e-mail me and I’ll respond with that little piece of info!!
Love you girl!
steph.
Thanks for the tag, I will get to it as soon as I can. Things have been just a bit hectic here and haven’t had as much time as i would like to write and read, but I will definitely make time to do this. Love ya!
I’m gonna say Ephesians. I read Watchman Nee’s book Sit, Walk, Stand and it really opened my eyes to how we, as Christians, need to sit and take in what we are to be like, then walk in that knowledge and stand our ground in the battles that surround us. Remembering to arm ourselves, each and every day, is how we can be on the offense for Christ rather than in defense of Him.
Papa- now you know why Hubs has to challenge me..not PA dutch..except for maybe the spelling part..LOL
Lori- that is awesome…that is where I started my walk with the Lord, as HE was my mentor from the beginning and I really didn’t have anyone then to help guide me..Isn’t he soooo awesome!
Ramsey- looking forward to that post!
Michelle- you are precious to me, and even more to HIM!
STEPH!!! I am emailing you today! Love you Princess!!
Good morning daughter! which book are you reading in the bible today? In a few minutes I will go to the Prayer cottage here on the camp and have my special time with God. Have a great day Darla!
Hello sweet Princess,
I will have to re-read Hosea. It’s been a long time. I can’t wait to dive back into it, now.
My favorite book of the Bible. Hmmm. Oh my that is a tough one. I am lovin’ every bit of His Word. If I absolutely HAD to pick…..I guess I would say…..oh……I can’t do it. I LOVE 1st and 2nd Samuel. I LOVE Isaiah. I LOVE the Gospels. I LOVE the Epistles. OK..I LOVE it ALL!!!! 😉
Oh……and I LOVE my Princess Darla!
Papa- reading Nahum in my new bible..because it just
surfaced in there..been lost all year..new Bibles are great but I wish they didn’t put that gold stuff on it..my little books disappear! 😯
Heather I am so with you I love the word!!!! But I think Hosea is where I end up most or at least two times a year, when I just need to see HIS heart! Love you too Prin
Those little books can disappear quite easily. :o) I think another good question would be who is your favorite Bible Character and why – not including Jesus – that is a given! :o) Or, who is the “worst” character in the Bible?? Like Haman or Jezebel !!

The Lamb of God and the Lion of Judah – Praise His Name FOREVER – He is amazing!!
Wow – I clicked over and saw your page – I LOVE IT!!
The picture is awesome – I SO love trees!! 😉
I like the Psalms because of the rhythmic musical qualities and a great example of prayer.
It’s hard to pick a favorite because ther’s still so much of it I don’t understand.
On Papa’s comment about favorite Bible characters it think it sounds like Enoch nailed it
Hebrews 11:5 the Message
By an act of faith, Enoch skipped death completely. “They looked all over and couldn’t find him because God had taken him.” We know on the basis of reliable testimony that before he was taken “he pleased God.”
okay I am going to have to think on this one for a minute. Thanks for asking for prayer for me…you are so precious.
Ok Darla, I’ve finished my post. Sorry it took so long. Thanks for tagging me.
Thanks for linking to Wrecked for the Ordinary!
I like Romans, but Colossians is also great. Isaiah’s a winner, too. So many good choices!
