Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretense that sets itself up against the knowlege of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
I don’t know what the enemy uses to trip you up, but I am sure it starts in the mind, a thought whether fleeting or intense. I don’t know what the world has to offer that makes your head spin around and take the second look, but I am sure it has an enticing affect. When looking hard at my own day to day life, and praying about areas that I am still in defeat, or at least tripped up…it all starts in the thought pattern or mind. We have access to resurrection power, and we are choosing to believe the enemy or let our worldly desires hold us down. The Word of God is powerful, so powerful that HE spoke the world into existence. With words Jesus called Lazarus out of the tomb and back to life. The very word of God, alive and transforming. After studying and teaching on this a few times, I am convinced while watching some struggle that it is not fair to call them on their belief or lack of, as much as they need to learn to put up the truth of God against whatever is holding them.
Today was a hard day. I was reminded to take every thought captive. This is something I have been working at for the last 10 years, and some days are easier than others. But HIS word is divine, and nothing or no one can stand up to it.
The Word of God is our shield of faith. We really need to pick the thing up, and allow it to cover us, and protect us. Whatever the thought, look it up in the Bible and see what God says about it before acting on it. If this is something that plagues you, write the verse out on an index card and carry the thing with you. The verses at the top have been written out several times for me. I am thinking I need a set of them in my bus. I am that human that I need reminders. Striving for obedience to Christ and that means taking my thoughts captive.
Father God you have provided everything we need to walk in the abundant life with you. Please help us to see in each thought what it is that is down playing you. Help us find the scripture that gives us divine power to overcome, and allow us to dance, instead of fall. We don’t want to be duped, we don’t need fancy words from someone else, we just need you. Thank you for being our King, for loving us enough to pave the way. We want to commit to walking on the road that you laid out for us. The battle does start in the mind, and if we entertain it, it will soon become a reality. Give us passion and hunger for your Word, engrave it on our hearts, store it in our minds. We are your children, the apple of your eye. Might everything we say and do and think glorify you. You want us to love you with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength. Enable us to do that. Desperate for you and to press on in your shadow!
It is all about the mind! Great post.
In our mind is everything, thoughts, fears, evil, good. Every decision and choice comes from our mind.
God has to renew it so we can think differently. How He wants us to.
When you guys are here, I need to get you a copy of my dad’s book. It is on Romans 12.
InWorship- that would be awesome! I would love to read that. Romans is my favorite book, and has helped me in overcoming so many things. I still run to it on rough days, and just when I pic of how much I am HIS, a new creation, no longer captive to the sinful nature, but constantly being transformed and renewed. I do use this 2 Cor. 10 to keep things in check that we need to constantly put the thoughts up agains the Truth. Thanks for stopping! I do love you guys!
I tagged you. Check out my blog! Thanks for adding me to your blogroll.

I NEEDED this… The battle is tough. Thank you Princess. Love you!!!!
Princess I love You
My mind is always a whirlwind of thoughts, ideas & plans! Satan knows that and tries to distract me. Jesus is my focus and that keeps me straight – although I look back and see at times I have slipped – the line is not so straight as I would like!
I love you so much Darla….
You know these words really ministered into my spirit. Please know that…
I’m walking beside you focusing on Jesus TOGETHER!!
Darla, you are so right. We may go through life thinking, at least I do not steal or lie. But, if someone read my mind, I would be embarrased. Also, I remeber my mother use to say some horriable things to me, and I would let those tapes run in my mind for years. One session I had with a councelor changed my life and I destroyed those tapes running in my mind. For I know now that the only tape that needs to run is the love Jesus has for me. He will over come everything, nothing is above the name of Jesus, not a thing. And if we realize that, we can put things under his feet for Him to crush. You will get there and God knows your heart. God bless you totally and I will pray for all of you that have this promblems. Love Tanya
I hope this works!!
I’ve been trying comment for ours.
How did you read my heart from so far away. These words are mine. i kind of wish I said them. I think speaking and writing gives us power. I’ve been really in a struggle lately princess. But I know like I am with you we are walking beside each other focusing on the undeniable. Christ is the undeniable. Love you!!!
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
i love the whole verse and that ONE word that stands out to me.
“THEN” Letting God transform us will “then” show us His will.
I love that!!!
Praying for you!
Red- i will get to your meme later, probably on the weekend…girl you have been on my blogroll, but I think it was under Elaine. 😆
Papa- me too! whirlwind of thoughts, but mostly good ones!
Tanya- Thanks for your prayers, I will always covet them! Taking thoughts captive is something we will have to do til we see HIM face to face…the enemy just becomes a little more subtle, the slimey dog!
Tam- I love how that reads, what translation are you using..i have been using the NASB/NIV mostly but I do like to check out others. I love the “then” too! Always thanks for your prayers!
Heidi= thanks princess! it means alot to me that we are on this road together! Princess to Princess and coast to coast! I had to rescue you from Spam…NO NO NO you are not spam! 😯
Thank you Darla for such a wonderful post. I love Ro 12:2.
We must remember our minds are our earthly enemy…we can’t just let them have free reign. It is a battle to be transformed…a battle the Lord is so ready, willing and able to fight, and WIN! Daily, moment by moment.
And the prayer…mmmm…soaking it in and prayin’ it up!
ahhhh…renewing of the mind and taking our thoughts captive. Wonderful post daaahhhling..the enemy is such a pathetic, defeated louse…he only has the power, as Tam says, that we give him. I say, give him zero…..Love you!
This was such a good read and reminder for an anxiety prone worry wart like myself. 😉
Love your thoughts Darla, Love HIS even more. 😀
