This is the most powerful song I have ever heard. When I heard it the first time, it brought me to my knees in repentance, and caused me to do some very intense soul searching. It was the first time I think I ever realized the idols that were clouding my thinking, and a real realization of the proper place for my King in my life, thoughts and decisions. If you want to hear the song you can go to www.rosskingmusic.com As I post these words, I pray that we all remember that we need HIM to look into every part of us, and keep us aware of the things that so easily take HIS place, especially in western culture.
Ross King-Clear the Stage
Clear the stage and set the sound and lights ablaze
If that’s the measure that it takes to crush the idols.
Chuck the pews and all the decorations too
Until the congregations few then have revival.
Tell your friends that this is where the party ends
until you’re broken for your sins you can’t be social.
Then seek the Lord and wait for what he has in store
and know that great is your reward and just be hopeful
Cause you can sing all you want to.
Yes you can sing all you want to
you can sing all you want to
And don’t get me wrong, worship is more than a song.
Take a break from all the plans that you made
And sit at home alone and wait for God to whisper.
Beg Him please to open up his mouth and speak
And pray for real upon your knees until they blister.
Shine the light on every corner of your life
Until the pride and lust and lies are in the open.
Then read the word and put to test the things you’ve heard
Until your heart and soul are stirred and rocked and broken.
Cause you can sing all you want to.
Yes you can sing all you want to
you can sing all you want to
And don’t get me wrong, worship is more than a song.
Anything I put before my God is an idol.
Anything I want with all my heart is an idol.
Anything I can’t stop thinking of is an idol.
Anything that I give all my love is an idol.
We must not worship something that’s not even worth it.
Clear the stage and make some space for the one who deserves it.
Cause I can sing all I want to.
Yes I can sing all I want to
I can sing all I want to
And still get it wrong, worship is more than a song.
And you can sing all you want to.
Yes you can sing all you want to
You can sing all you want to
But don’t get me wrong, worship is more than a song.
super song! I remember it being very quiet after I sang this in church 😯 It kicks my butt every time I hear it. (I hope that stops soon)
I don’t know what to say…except I love that song. I’m printing that out. Hope all is well…love you girl! HEY, 365….spiritual butt kicking has to be a good thing…right? 😯

This stopped me in my tracks. I have nothing to say…
Praise365-oh I remember that…silence that was piercing, I think I could hear people breathing! and the ones who embraced its message, caused me to tear in the presence of my Holy God.
Deb-I have loved this song from the first time I heard it, it speaks volumes to me.
Tam-that is exactly the place that broke my heart, when realizing that the things I held so high in my heart, were actually things I loved more than HIM. Never realizing before how much idolatry was actually part of my life….now more constant checks and balances..
I’m with Tam here….I ditto her comment…100%. wow.
I “try” to continually check my direction to make sure I am where He wants me. Not because I am worried about “mistakes” or “sin” but rather that I might slip away from His companionship.
Thanks for this. I may have to commit this one to memory for poetry open mics. I’m reminded of this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“A person will worship something, have no doubt about that. We may think our tribute is paid in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts, but it will out. That which dominates our imaginations and our thoughts will determine our lives, and our character. Therefore, it behooves us to be careful what we worship, for what we are worshiping we are becoming.”
Awesome words!! I’ve never heard this song. It certainly is powerful. I began many years ago asking, no begging, the Lord to reveal any pride or idols in my heart. I do this each day and it is one of the most intense parts of my prayer life for I do literally beg Him to do it. he has been faithful to show me much in the way of pride and I try to be faithful to confess it and repent.
Hope you are doing well, dear one!!
Leah
I know this is browsing back a bit, but the title caught my eye. The words then grabbed my heart. Thank you.
