Nicodemus presented a common ground which they were all supposed to agree on ... and instead of meeting him on that ground, they attacked him. It does show the irrationality of those who fight God. When I was reading the chapter for this week I was also struck with all the different ways people were "perceiving" Jesus. I think so many times we try to cast Him in our own image or with our own ideas of who we think He should be rather than coming to Him on His terms in the way He has revealed Himself to us.
